About Us :

The Ontario Center for Performing Arts is a 501(c)3 organization, run by a 17-member Board of Directors, operating under established by-laws. OCPA operates the Oswego Music Hall at the McCrobie Building, a city of Oswego venue, that overlooks Lake Ontario. On concert evenings, a large empty hall is transformed into an intimate venue replete with candlelit tables, professional staging and sound; as well as an array of freshly baked desserts, hot cider and freshly brewed coffee.

In existence for more than three decades, The Music Hall is a venue uncommon to songwriters and musicians. While the music presented is primarily acoustic, there are occasional departures into other formats. We seek to offer a venue for the unheard voice, new ideas, to those who use song to reach out from and to the edges of our culture.

In selecting performers the focus is on:

  • the thought process of music writers
  • the origin of music performed and the history and forces that are relevant to the work
  • excellence and bringing high caliber original and diverse music to our audience.

Audience rapport is a must. It is one of the signature attributes of Music Hall performances. Artists who can accommodate–or take the time to communicate with–the audience between songs and during intermission will find that attention is returned many fold.
